What is the sound of happiness? The sound of children laughing. The tone of your voice at the sight of a long- lost friend.
The sound of a crackling log in the fireplace on a snowy evening. These are the sounds that make life worth living, that make each day rich and memorable. These are the sounds of happiness. CLASSICAL INSPIRATION For Patty Sturgis, one sound clearly represents happiness in her heart: the sound of classical music. Chopin. Bach. Beethoven. Rachmaninov. Patty grew up in a musically oriented family and was, for many years, an accomplished musician herself. To her, the sound of a piano concerto or a symphony is not just a way to unwind and lose herself in the music— it’s a way to relive some of the wonderful memories the music conjures up in her mind. COMPOSED EXCELLENCE What Patty has always loved about music, specifically classical music, is the incredible complexity of the compositions. The composers take woodwinds, brass, percussion— all of the elements of the orchestra— and meld them seamlessly into an audible master- piece. “Those composers were so gifted, so talented,” Patty says. “If I can learn even the slightest bit from their work, I’m happy.”
TO PATTY, THE SOUND OF A FRIEND’S LAUGHTER OR THE HAPPY TONE IN A SATISFIED CLIENT’S VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. |
PUTTING IT TOGETHER In her work as a Tuscaloosa area real estate professional, Patty regularly demonstrates her own gift for composition, albeit of an entirely different sort. By carefully handling all elements of her clients’ real estate purchases and sales— from financing to preparing homes for sale— Patty creates some very important sounds of happiness. To Patty, the sound of a satisfied family celebrating the achievement of a heartfelt dream is truly music to her ears.
